Earthen Architecture
The buildings of Tata, constructed in rammed earth (a mixture of raw earth, water and straw), blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. This ancestral technique, typical of Saharan ksour, helps keep interiors cool despite the desert’s high temperatures.
Oasis Agriculture
Thanks to an ingenious irrigation system, Tata is home to flourishing oasis gardens and agriculture. Date palms, olive trees and almond trees grow in abundance, providing welcome shade and delicious local produce.
Traditional Souks
Tata’s souks are a true feast for the senses. You’ll find handcrafted pottery, Berber rugs, fragrant spices and fresh local produce such as dates, figs and almonds. It’s the perfect place to soak up the local atmosphere and pick up authentic souvenirs.
